ARNet, Inc. is firmly opposed to any type of non-voluntary Internet censorship. For several years we have looked for good ways to provide all of our users total and unrestricted access to all of the Internet while providing a filtered service to those people who asked for one. Until now, there has been no filtering system that passed our strict requirements: It must be voluntary. It must be affordable. It must be easy. It must be secure.

ARNet is proud to offer Surf Sentry™

1. What is filtering?
Internet filtering is a process that prevents or blocks access to certain material on the Internet. Filtering is most commonly used to prevent children from accessing inappropriate material and to keep employees productive on the Internet.

2. How much does it cost?
Surf Sentry™ is $4.00 per month per account. Special rates are available for corporations, schools and other users with networked computers.

3. How is filtering done?
Surf Sentry™ is a server based filtering system. With server-based solutions, a site is blocked before it gets to the user's computer. Server-based filtering was first developed by N2H2 in 1995 for use in schools and by ISPs. It is the most efficient, least costly and most reliable filtering solution.

4. Who decides what is "objectionable"?
The filtering is provided by N2H2. N2H2 employs the largest full-time team of dedicated professionals that review each site that is entered into the Company's database. N2H2 does not use keywords to determine which sites to block, this method would end up blocking valuable information. Reviewing sites individually allows N2H2 to evaluate all material that might otherwise go unnoticed and unfiltered using a keyword method.

5. Is it 100% accurate every time?
Thousands of new websites come online every day making it impossible to catch every one every time. It is also hard to determine what is objectionable to every person. We think that although all filtering is imperfect, ours is as good as it gets. Scroll Down to see the types of information blocked by Surf Sentry™

6. Who can disable it?
The owner of the Account is the only one who can disable it.

7. Why do I notice a slight pause between pages?
Surf Sentry™ scans its databases to see if the site you are requesting is on the blocked list. That causes a slight pause. It is normal.

8. Do I have to change the way I use the Internet?
NO. Surf like you normally do. Surf Sentry™ does all of the work.

9. How do I sign up?
You may call our office or use our online form to sign up.
